I'm looking for a second team to root for this baseball season. Who should I pick? →

aldoushuxtable:

Only rules:

  1. No Cubs.
  2. No Marlins (too soon!)
  3. No AL teams. I don’t know crap about the NL other than the pitcher has to hit.

Root for the Pirates with me! There is a cachet in cheering for the most unsuccessful team in all of professional sports — which has potentially huge payoff as this could very well be the year that the Pirates finally have a winning record (last year they led the division at the All Star break, their players are all young guys who are only getting better). Also, they play the Cubs like 20 times a season — and last year, at least, they usually won. You know you want to go get belligerent at Wrigley/cry into beers at various Chicago sports bars with me!
